Mr. Gatkuoth Kai
Gatkuoth Kai. MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management from University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and MSc in Project Management from Cavendish University, Uganda.
At the moment, he heads Disaster Risk Reduction unit at African Union Commission, a role he is passionately contributing to development and strengthening of institutions and systems of governance for disaster risk management at continental, regional and national levels.
Prior to joining the AU Commission, he was Programme Manager for Concordis’ Peacebuilding cross-border programme targeting borderline communities in South Sudan – Sudan and South Sudan – Uganda border regions. The programme led to increased trust, enhanced mutual relations and greater economic interdependency between the borderline communities in the three Countries. In his earliest career journey, Gatkuoth had implemented complex humanitarian emergencies programmes in health, education, nutrition and Livelihood. Those interventions saved lives of victims of either natural disasters or protracted catastrophic civil wars in the Sudan.
