KEY FOCUS AREAS
The African Response to Relief and Development (ARRD) works in six thematic areas; known as" core programs.
Each of these programs below is aimed at improving the lives of local inhabitants by mobilizing their own abilities to improve their livelihoods and protect their local environment, economy and culture.
Learning
Education and skills development for school dropout youth (special focus to adolescent girls)

Environment (Civic & Environmental Education and Environmental Conservation/Tree Planting)

The African Response to Relief and Development (ARRD) aims at these objectives.
- To promote access of under-privileged girls to primary and secondary education so as to improve gender equity;
- To protect male youth from sexual exploitation, design programs to support them and that should look at their needs in a comprehensive way and target the different risk factors that affect them.
- To facilitate vocational education
to underprivileged vulnerable young refugees
and their host communities who have dropped out of formal and be equipped with employability skills; - To contribute to improvement of peaceful co-existence among, and protection of, refugees and host communities;
- To mobilize and organize communities to contribute to conserving the biodiversity surrounding them, to restoring local/public ecosystems, and to reducing the impact of climate change
- To reduce climate change, by providing educational resources/information to impoverished and rural communities.
- To promote public health awareness activities among the refugees and their vulnerable host communities in order to reduce the risks of diseases and improvement of quality life;
- To provide alternative livelihood options for enhancing incomes of the community.
- To contribute to improving food security and livelihoods of the refugee and vulnerable host communities.
